Abstract
The efficiency of the use of solar radiation is the ability of plants to convert energy into biomass from radiation interception. This study aims to examine the efficiency of sunlight interception in local upland rice Aceh and its relationship to yield potential. The planting material used consisted of accessions to local upland rice Aceh, namely Sebeso, Sigedul, Bengkok, Rias Kuning, Rias Putih, Simerah, Bontok, Ramos Gunung and Gembel. This study used a descriptive method, namely in situ observations with 10 clumps selected as samples for each local upland rice accession in each location. The results showed that the Bontok, Rias Kuning and Sebeso cultivars had higher solar light interception efficiency (Ei) of 92.72%, 93.50% and 92.95%, respectively, the value of Ei decreased with increasing plant age. There is a relationship between the efficiency of solar light interception (Ei) and the percentage of filled grain per panicle with an r value of 0.886 which is higher than the comparison value (r0.05 = 0.666). Increasing the efficiency of the use of sunlight by plants triggers an increase in the percentage of filled grain per panicle with an efficiency value of using sunlight of 0.17 g MJ-1.
