Innovations in Family Nutrition: Improving the Skills of PKK Mothers in Processing Nutritious Fish Products
Inovasi Pangan Keluarga: Peningkatan Keterampilan Ibu PKK Dalam Mengolah Ikan Bernutrisi
Abstract
This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of PKK mothers in processing fish into nutritious and diverse food products as an effort to support household food security. The program was conducted in Arongan Village, Kuala Pesisir Sub-district, Nagan Raya Regency, and began with a program orientation, followed by educational sessions on the nutritional benefits of fish, and hands-on training in making fish-based products such as nuggets, dragon feet (fish fingers), fish satay, and fish balls. The methods employed included participatory and practical approaches grounded in simple science and technology. The results indicate that participants not only gained an understanding of the importance of fish consumption as a source of animal protein, but also developed the ability to process fish into value-added products that can be utilized in daily life or further developed into home-based enterprises. This activity has had a positive impact on strengthening food security and empowering household economies.
