Essential Food Logistics Distribution as an Effort to Meet Basic Needs for Flash Flood Victims in Karang Anyar Village, Langsa City
Abstract
Langsa City periodically faces the threat of flash floods, with Karang Anyar Village being one of the areas experiencing the most significant damage. This disaster results in the paralysis of economic activities and the disruption of the food supply chain for affected communities. This community service activity aims to conduct an emergency intervention through the distribution of essential food supplies to ensure food security for residents post-disaster. The method employed is a participatory approach involving stages of socialization, logistics management training, distribution mentoring, and program evaluation. The results show that intensive coordination with village officials successfully mapped vulnerable groups, ensuring that aid was distributed precisely to those in need. The implementation of training for local volunteers proved to increase efficiency and transparency in the field distribution process. Based on the evaluation results, it can be concluded that the essential food aid was appropriately received by the residents of Karang Anyar Village and had a direct impact on reducing the family economic burden. As a follow-up to the program, Karang Anyar Village has been designated as a university-partnered village to strengthen disaster mitigation capacity periodically. This program not only succeeded in meeting the nutritional needs of residents during the crisis but also strengthened the synergy between academics and the community in building a more organized emergency response system at the village level.
