Penggunaan Pendekatan Whole Language Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Permulaan di Kelas I SDN 27 Batu Bulek Tanah Datar

Abstract

This reseach’s backgrown is ability of pre-reading skill low. That seen a few students not yet can memorize type of alphabet, ability of pronouncations of characters still low to, and can’t reading alout (high-pitched reading) with pronounce and good intonation. Thast’s because still minimum of development the appoarch of innovative learning which teacher use on learning prosess. The purpose of this study is to describe the increase of students pre-reading ability inintegrated thematic learning using the whole language approach . this research is a classroom action research (PTK) thas uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. It is carried out in two cycles, where one cycle consist of two mettings and the second cyle consists of one meeting. The research subjects were teacher of first grade at SDN 27 Batu Bulek as observer, reseaecher, and 15 students of first grade at SDN 27 Batu Bulek. The results of the research showed the improvement of students’ learning output, they were : a)the result of the RPP observations in the first cyle werw 84,09%, incrased in the second cyle to 90,9%. B) the result of teacher actifity in the fisrt cyle 78,13%, incrased in the second cyle to 87,5%. C) the initial reading service for student in the first cyle had an average of 72,83 with a proportion of 53,33%, the increased in the second  cyle to 81 with a propotion of 86,333%. Based on the these result it can be concluded that the whole language appoarch can improve students reading skill in integrated thematic learning.
