Abstract

This research is motivated by the reality of schools which show that the learning process is still teacher-centered and students are still less active in learning. This is because the teacher has not used an effective learning model in the learning process. So resulting in low student learning outcomes in integrated thematic learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the use of the Picture and Picture Type Cooperative Learning model to improve integrated thematic learning outcomes in grade II elementary schools. This research was carried out using the Picture and Picture Cooperative Learning model in class II of SDN 13 Kampung Kandang, East Pariaman District, Pariaman City. The subjects of this study were teachers and students of class II, totaling 14 people. The approach used is a qualitative and quantitative approach. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, cycle I consisting of 2 meetings, and cycle II consisting of 1 meeting. Each cycle includes four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The results of the study are: (1) the percentage of lesson plan observations in cycle I obtained an average of 77.27%, increasing to 95.45% in cycle II. (2) Teacher activity in cycle I obtained an average of 76.78%, increasing to 96.42% in cycle II. (3) Student activity in cycle I obtained an average of 76.78%, increasing to 96.42% in cycle II. Meanwhile, from the learning outcomes of students, in cycle I the average score was 75 good categories (with an average percentage of 64.28% completeness in the poor category) increased to 90 very good categories (with a completeness percentage of 85.71% good category) in the second cycle. II. Based on these results it can be concluded that the Picture and Picture model can improve student learning outcomes in integrated thematic learning.
