Abstract

Character in children can be formed through the family, school and community environment. Media books, stories, fairy tales and other media are part of the things that can affect the formation of character in children. The selection of appropriate and educational fairy tales for children should be an important concern for parents and families. Teachers also have an important role in character building in children at school through learning media in the form of books or fairy tales that are educational. The purpose of this study was to find out the values ​​of character education in the book collection of fairy tales of the mouse deer: witty, cute and adorable little animals. Character values ​​can also be used as instructions or guidelines for behaving anywhere, including at school. The book The collection of fairy tales from the mouse deer tells of a clever deer, where each part of this book tells a lot about the ingenuity of the deer in dealing with other animals that are told in the book collection of fairy tales of the mouse deer. The results of this research show that the character values in the Kancil fairy tale collection are discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, democracy, curiosity, respect for achievement, friendship/communicative, love of peace, care for the environment and social care.
