Abstract

A device for detecting water turbidity has been designed using an ATMega8535 microcontroller. This tool consists of Photodiode, Infrared LED, LCD, and Buzzer. This tool will later be used to measure the level of turbidity of several types of water. The working principle of this tool is that the detection system will detect an object, namely water, which then emits light emitted by the LED which will be transmitted to the photodiode. Incoming light emission depends on the type of water. If the water is cloudy, then the emission of LED light will be reduced, so the photodiode readings are also different depending on the type of water, this depends on the level of turbidity of the water (turbidity). The change in resistance of the photodiode will be continued to ATMega8535, then processed to get the output in NTU (nephelometrix turbidity unit) units. Because the sensor system output is still in analog form, an ADC is needed to convert the signal to digital, and then the data is processed and the results are displayed via the LCD.
