Abstract

Orchid flowers (Orchidaceae) are one of the ornamental plants with high species diversity, reaching 20,000-35,000 species, and have attractive shapes, colors, and aromas. In Indonesia, orchids grow in almost all regions and are an important part of ornamental plant culture. Their ability to adapt to extreme environments and receive direct sunlight makes orchids easy to cultivate in various tropical regions. Demand for orchids continues to increase, especially for decorative purposes at various events such as weddings, holidays, and other commercial needs. In addition, orchids are also utilized in the perfume and cosmetics industry due to their high aesthetic value. However, simple cultivation and processing have not been able to meet the high market demand, thus encouraging imports. To overcome this challenge, capacity building is needed through training and mentoring in cultivation and digital marketing for local farmers. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal Lhokseumawe through the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) initiated biodiversity-based orchid agribusiness development activities. This program aims to encourage sustainable community economic empowerment, support Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
