Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the use of problem-based learning models in improving students' critical thinking skills in elementary schools, in order to know whether the results are effective or not when applied during the learning process. That the ability to think critically which is owned by each student is very important because with it students will find it easier to improve their ability to solve a problem. In improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students, of course, a teacher's effort is needed in providing innovative and creative learning materials such as the PBL model. The definition of the PBL model is a learning model by forming small groups in which each group is given a problem so that it can be solved with its members, so that they are able to solve a problem given by each teacher. So that in this research using a research method, namely the study of literature by collecting data, then processing the data and analyzing the reference sources taken from books and scientific journals that have a relationship with the subject and object under study. In conducting data analysis, namely by connecting a problem with the theory taken from relevant scientific books and journals. So that the results of this research are that in using the problem based learning (PBL) model is very effective and appropriate in improving students' critical thinking skills. In this research, it is shown from the results of the analysis of several journals that have produced findings regarding the PBL model which is said to be able to improve students' critical thinking skills.
