Abstrak

This study aims to explore and analyze the effect of the teaching core program on children's interest in learning in Jorong Simpang Abu, and aims to describe the product in Real Work Lecture (KKN) activities and forms of community service for Padang State University students in the form of community empowerment. The teaching terrace program is an initiative to increase interest in learning in rural areas, especially for children during school holidays. The research method used is qualitative where data is taken from field observations. As for photos as documentation to strengthen the results of this research. The results showed that the existence of a teaching core program had a significant positive impact on children's interest in learning in Simpang Abu Village. Prior to the teaching terrace program, children's interest in learning tended to be low because their school holidays were only filled with playing. However, after the establishment of the teaching terrace program, children's interest in learning has increased significantly, they are more interested in learning even though it is during school holidays. In addition, the results of the interviews also revealed that the teaching terrace is a fun and inspiring place for children. They also stated that the teaching terrace helped fill their free time by playing while studying. This finding has important implications for the development of education in rural areas. The teaching core program can be an effective model for increasing interest in learning. In the long term, this kind of effort is expected to contribute to increasing the interest in learning and knowledge of the village community as a whole.
