Abstract

This study examines the perceptions of couples of childbearing age (PUS) toward family planning (KB) based on age, education, occupation, and cultural background, and evaluates the quality of family planning services in Simpang Selayang Village. Of 1,899 PUS, 95 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with respondents and health workers and analyzed descriptively. The results show that perceptions of family planning vary across sociodemographic and cultural characteristics, although most respondents generally have positive perceptions. Family planning services were also considered good in terms of contraceptive availability, information provision, service procedures, community participation, and interpersonal relationships. However, concerns about contraceptive side effects remain a barrier to family planning uptake.
