Abstract

The community service activity with the theme of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) farming using the biofloc system has been carried out successfully and has shown positive developments. This program began with a socialization activity that provided the community with a basic understanding of the importance of biofloc technology in addressing the challenges of land limitations, water quality, and feed efficiency. After the socialization stage, the activity continued with theoretical and practical training involving the target community, students, and accompanying lecturers. At this stage, participants were equipped with knowledge about the basic principles of biofloc, how to build cultivation ponds, water quality management, and proper feed management. Through hands-on practice, participants were able to understand how the biofloc system works and began to become skilled in preparing cultivation facilities. Next, initial technical assistance was provided, including pond media preparation, tilapia seed distribution, and routine water quality monitoring. Preliminary results indicate that the community is beginning to manage biofloc ponds independently with supervision from the faculty team. Participants' enthusiasm is evident in their active participation in discussions and hands-on experimentation with each stage of the process. Overall, this community service activity has enhanced the knowledge and skills of the community. The next stage will focus on providing assistance with fish maintenance until harvest, so that participants not only understand the theory but are also able to obtain real results from biofloc farming.
