Analisis Kemampuan Penalaran dan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Seluruh Siswa Sekota Padang pada Materi Himpunan

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the reasoning abilities and mathematical communication skills of junior high school students on set material. In this study using qualitative research with descriptive methods using a qualitative approach, the population is students at one of the SMP Sekota Padang. The sample used was 27 students. This study uses the instrument used in the form of a test with 5 questions. This instrument was made based on 5 indicators of students' ability to understand mathematical concepts. This study aims to examine and analyze regarding: (1) Mathematical communication skills connecting real objects, pictures and diagrams into mathematical ideas. (2) Mathematical communication skills explain ideas, situations, writing with real objects, pictures, graphics and algebra. (3) Mathematical communication skills express daily events in language or mathematical symbols. (4) Mathematical communication skills make a model of a situation through writing, concrete objects, pictures, graphics, and algebraic methods. (5) Mathematical communication skills Explain and make questions about the mathematics that has been studied. The results showed that the criteria for students' mathematical reasoning and communication abilities were very good as many as 3 people, as many as 6 people good, as many as 7 people enough, as many as 9 people less, and very less as many as 2 people. So, it can be concluded that the dominant mathematical reasoning and communication of SMP Sekota Padang is in the unfavorable criteria.
