Abstrak

A preliminary study carried out by researchers in class XII of SLB Bina Bangsa Padang, found a deaf child with the initials X who is known to have not been able to practice how to paint used goods independently. The intervention in the form of a transition to the right learning method clearly needs to be given so that individuals are able to achieve the stated teaching goals effectively and efficiently. So the demonstration method was chosen as a way to improve the skills of painting used goods for deaf children. The research applies the type of experimental research in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) so that researchers are able to examine causal relationships and functional relationships between variables (Marlina, 2021). The SSR design applied is the A-B-A design. The dependent variable in this study is painting skills using used goods, while the independent variable is the demonstration method. Data collection techniques used in the study used tests and documentation. Based on the observed test, a series of behaviors for painting used goods was observed and then on the observation sheet a checklist was made which would be used in the baseline (A1), intervention (B) and baseline (A2) sessions. The research participants were one person (N=1) who was classified as a deaf individual (initial X) who was sitting in class XII of SLB Bina Bangsa Padang. The duration of the research was carried out at least three meetings per week with a time of ± 90 minutes for each meeting. Based on the data analysis that has been carried out, it is known that there is an increase in the ability to paint used goods in children who are shown at the Mean level A1 (37) which is less than condition B (60.57) and A2 (96.25). This shows that using the demonstration method as a learning intervention can improve the skills of painting secondhand goods in class XII deaf children at SLB Bina Bangsa Padang.
