Abstrak

Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) aquaculture is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia's aquaculture sector. However, many traditional fish ponds remain suboptimal due to limited technical knowledge, inadequate access to technology, and poor business management. This community engagement project aims to revitalize traditional ponds in Padang Sakti Village through a community-based approach involving education and intensive mentoring. The implementation method consisted of four stages: problem survey and identification, socialization and training, field mentoring, and outcome evaluation. The results indicate an 85% increase in farmers' understanding of vannamei shrimp farming techniques, a rise in productivity from less than 100 kg/ha to 300–350 kg/ha per cycle, and the establishment of one active farmer group. Additionally, the project had positive social and economic impacts, including increased income and strengthened community cooperation. This initiative demonstrates that empowerment through structured technical education and mentoring can successfully transform traditional ponds into more productive, efficient, and sustainable aquaculture systems.
