General Provisions
Jurnal Ilmiah Samudra Akuatika recognizes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including generative AI tools, as an aid in scientific writing and publication. The use of AI must be ethical, transparent, and responsible, without compromising academic integrity, originality, or human accountability.
This policy applies to authors, editors, and peer reviewers involved in the publication process of Jurnal Ilmiah Samudra Akuatika.

Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use AI tools to assist with language editing, grammar checking, translation, and improving manuscript readability. All AI-generated or AI-assisted outputs must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors before being incorporated into a manuscript.
Authors must not use AI to fabricate or manipulate research data, results, analyses, scientific images, citations, or references. AI must not replace the authors' intellectual contributions to the interpretation of results or the formulation of scientific conclusions.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of the entire manuscript, including any content produced with the assistance of AI tools

Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must transparently disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools contribute to the substantive content of a manuscript or to research activities. The disclosure must include, at a minimum, the name of the AI tool, its purpose, and the part or stage of the work in which it was used.
The AI disclosure statement should be included in a separate section before the references or in another section specified by the journal. If AI tools are used as part of the research methodology, their use must also be described in the Methods section, where applicable.
Routine spelling and basic grammar checks that do not generate substantive content do not require disclosure. Nevertheless, authors remain responsible for verifying all information, citations, and references included in their manuscripts.

AI Authorship
AI tools, chatbots, and large language models (LLMs) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is reserved for individuals who meet the journal's authorship criteria and can take responsibility for their contributions and the contents of the manuscript.

Use of AI by Editors
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts and all information related to the editorial process. Editors must not upload manuscripts, confidential research data, or peer-review documents to external AI services when doing so could compromise confidentiality or authors' rights.
Editorial decisions, including acceptance, rejection, and requests for revision, must be based on the editor's professional judgment and the peer-review process. Such decisions must not be delegated entirely to AI systems.

Use of AI by Peer Reviewers
Peer reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and all information obtained during the review process. Reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts or any parts thereof to external generative AI services.
AI must not replace reviewers' expert judgment in evaluating the originality, methodology, validity of findings, and scientific contribution of a manuscript. Peer-review reports must reflect the reviewers' independent and professional assessments.

Policy Violations
Undisclosed use of AI where disclosure is required, fabrication of data or references, manipulation of research findings, and breaches of confidentiality may constitute violations of publication ethics.
Jurnal Ilmiah Samudra Akuatika reserves the right to request clarification or revision, reject a manuscript, or take other appropriate editorial actions depending on the nature and severity of the violation and the journal's publication ethics policies.

Final Provisions
This policy may be reviewed and updated in response to developments in AI technology and scholarly publishing ethics guidelines. All authors, editors, and peer reviewers are expected to comply with this policy to uphold the quality, credibility, and integrity of publications in Jurnal Ilmiah Samudra Akuatika.
