Correction and Retraction Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Samudra Akuatika is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal follows appropriate publication ethics principles in handling corrections, retractions, and other post-publication concerns.

Corrections
Corrections may be issued when errors are identified in a published article that affect the accuracy, clarity, or interpretation of the content but do not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions of the study.
Authors who identify errors in their published articles should promptly notify the editorial team and provide a clear explanation of the errors and the proposed corrections. The editorial team will evaluate the nature and significance of the errors and determine the appropriate action.
When a correction is warranted, the journal will publish a formal correction notice describing the error and the corresponding amendment. The correction notice will be linked to the original article to ensure transparency and maintain the accuracy of the scholarly record.
Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning or interpretation of an article may be corrected without a separate correction notice, at the discretion of the editorial team.

Retractions
A retraction may be issued when an article is found to contain serious errors or ethical violations that undermine the reliability or integrity of its findings. Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data or results.
  • Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of others' work.
  • Serious methodological or analytical errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions.
  • Duplicate publication or substantial redundant publication.
  • Unethical research practices or violations of applicable research ethics requirements.
  • Improper authorship or other serious breaches of publication ethics that affect the integrity of the article.
  • Manipulation of the peer-review or publication process.

The editorial team will assess the available evidence and, where appropriate, seek explanations from the authors and relevant institutions before making a decision. Retraction decisions will be made based on the severity of the issue and the evidence available, following established publication ethics principles.
A retraction notice will clearly state the reason for the retraction and identify the affected article. The notice will be linked to the original publication. The original article will remain accessible where technically and legally possible, with a clear retraction label to preserve the scholarly record and ensure transparency.

Expression of Concern
When credible concerns arise regarding the reliability or ethical integrity of a published article, but the investigation is incomplete or the available evidence is insufficient to reach a final decision, the journal may issue an Expression of Concern.
The notice will explain the nature of the concern to the extent that can be disclosed appropriately. It may be updated or followed by a correction or retraction when further information becomes available.

Responsibilities of Authors and the Editorial Team
Authors are responsible for promptly reporting significant errors discovered after publication and cooperating with the editorial team in any investigation concerning their articles.
The editorial team is responsible for evaluating reported concerns fairly, objectively, and confidentially where appropriate. Decisions concerning corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern will be based on evidence and publication ethics principles, rather than solely on requests from authors, institutions, or other interested parties.
The journal may consult independent experts or relevant institutions when necessary to establish the facts and determine appropriate action.

Transparency and Publication Record
All corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern will be handled transparently to protect readers, researchers, and the integrity of the scholarly record. Relevant notices will be clearly identified and linked to the original article whenever possible.
Jurnal Ilmiah Samudra Akuatika reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action when evidence indicates that a published article does not meet the journal's standards of research integrity and publication ethics.
